Updated: Apr 13, 2021

Make your wardrobe work for your with these wardrobe essentials

Spring 2021 is hitting a little different for me. Mainly because this time last year, we were locked down due to a literal global pandemic, which still blows my mind. Although we’re not quite out of the woods yet, things are slowly getting back to some form of normalcy. THANK YOU SWEET BABY JESUS!!!

I believe that we’re moving pass the days of just dressing up loungewear and are now wearing actual clothes and I’m here for it!!!

Here are my Wardrobe Essentials to help make your wardrobe work for you. Be sure to check out my last post on how to transition your wardrobe into spring. The theme for this Spring is, effortless. Creating looks that looks put together, without much effort. I will teach you how to create a functional wardrobe to create simple and chic looks.

The idea of these essentials is to help create elevated looks that makes people think you put more effort into your look than you actually did. They can be paired with your existing wardrobe to help you get better use of the items that you already have. So let’s get into it:

Blazers

Blazers are a great way to elevate any look. Picking the right one is key. The most flattering style of blazer, that I find compliments different body types, is the oversized blazer. This type of blazer can be paired with a simple top and jeans, shorts and a crop top, or a chic dress. I recommend starting out with a linen blazer in a neutral color, like tan , which can be paired perfectly with so many other pieces in your wardrobe. If you’re bold enough try a bold color that will provide the perfect pop to very simple looks.

An oversized blazer does all of the work for you in creating the perfect look. in addition to the fabric being light weight enough for the spring and summer months. Here are some of my favorites:

Sneakers

Since most of us are still working from home, our pumps and heels are not worn as much. Sneakers have been wardrobe staples as of late, mainly because they can literally be paired with any look. The classic white sneaker can be paired with dresses, jeans, suits...literally anything! The white sneaker adds a casual element that in turns creates an effortless look. For my fashion girls, try adding your favorite pair of high tops with your most feminine dresses for that cool girl factor. Stay tuned for my post on to create looks with your favorite sneakers. Here are some of my favorite styles:

Comfy Jeans

The days of super tight jeans are slowing coming to an end. Now don’t get me wrong some looks require a great pair of skinny jeans. However, the 90s trend is putting them on the back burner. A great pair of distressed mom jeans, or straight leg baggy jeans are the vibe this spring. They tie into the effortless vibe of the season. As with any pair of jeans, you have to find the right pair and one you do buy them in every color! These type of jeans can be dressed up (my favorite way to wear them) or down. Paired with either a great heel or a cool sneaker, either way, gives your look that cool girl aesthetic. Here are my favorites:

Mules

Either you hate them or you love them, either way the mule is in for Spring! This was a trend that I never used to wear, however when I tried this style of shoe, I fell in love! They are so easy to wear! Whether flats or heels, they tie into that effortless chic look which is on trend for spring. Try a pair in a print or white to elevate any look! Here are some of my favorites

SpringDresses

What is Spring without the perfect go-to Spring dress! Lately, smock dresses have been my go-to if I want to look put together quick and easy. They’re a great foundation piece to let your accessories shine, not to mention they’re extremely comfortable! Pick dresses in fun bold prints, girly silhouettes (think fit and flare), and vibrant colors. Paired with heels, boots, or sneakers, the right dress can give you the perfect spring look. Here are some of my favorites:

The Classic White Button Up

The classic white button up is an essential for every season. It should be slightly oversized to elongate your body. It can be paired with absolutely everything. From a simple pair of jeans or used as a bathing suit cover up, the classic white shirt is a wardrobe staple for every season. Make sure it’s well fitting and crispy white, I usually replace mine every year.
